Welcome to the Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County

The Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County, Maryland is an organization of families with a child with Down Syndrome, adults with Down Syndrome, medical professionals and others who serve people with Down Syndrome, and government service providers.

Our organization provides:

• Social opportunities for parents and individuals with Down syndrome
• Support to new and expectant parents of babies with Down syndrome
• Speakers for parents and service providers on current research and best practices dealing with individuals with Down Syndrome
• Information about accessing services and resources in our community
• Opportunities for parents and service providers to network with each other and to learn and support each other through an email list serv and a quarterly newsletter

SPECIAL SPEAKER - DR GEORGE CAPONE FROM KENNEDY KRIEGER INSTITUTE - MAY 14, 2008 FROM 7:30 - 9:30 pm

Dr. Capone currently serves as the director of the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Down Syndrome Clinic, and the topic for discussion will be behavior and developmental disabilities.

SPECIAL SPEAKER - DR STACEY ISHMAN FROM JOHNS HOPKINS TO TALK ON SLEEP APNEA - JUNE 11, 2008 AT 7:30 pm

Dr. Ishman is the Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology (Head and Neck Surgery) and Faculty Member at the Pediatric Sleep and Breathing Disorders Clinic and Adult Disorders Center at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. The topics of discussion will be Sleep Apnea and Down Syndrome.
