Welcome to the Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County

The Down Syndrome Network of Montgomery County, Maryland is an organization that provides support to families of children, teens and adults with Down syndrome, offers opportunities for these families to socialize and connect with service providers, and also works to improve the lives of people with Down syndrome with the support of organizations such as The Arc of Montgomery County, NDSS and NDSC.

Our organization provides:

Social opportunities for families and individuals with Down syndrome
Support to new and expectant parents of babies with Down syndrome
Speakers for parents and service providers on current research and best practices dealing with individuals with Down Syndrome
Information on accessing local and state resources and services in our community
Opportunities for parents and service providers to network with each other and to learn and support each other through an email list serv and a quarterly newsletter
Advocacy to enhance the lives of people with Down syndrome with a particular focus on educational, recreational and legislative opportunities.

DSNMC BOARD MEETING - FEBRUARY 3, 2010 FROM 7:00 - 8:30 pm

Monthly DSNMC Board Meeting. Due to the weather conditions, we will have a conference call meeting this Wednesday February 3rd from 7:00-8:30 pm.

DSNMC COFFEE AND CONVERSATION - FEBRUARY 9, 2010 FROM 9:30-11:30 am

Hope you can take a morning “time out” to meet new moms and enjoy great conversation.
We will meet at the Coffee Kiosk at Montgomery Mall (1st floor near Crate and Barrel).

DSNMC PLAYGROUP - FEBRUARY 20, 2010 at 9:30 am

Our playgroup this month we'll be at the Playseum in Bethesda (http://playseum.com/). Please see the web site for more information, along with directions and parking instructions. Playseum is a play area with separate themed rooms that can be explored independently. Playseum opens at 9:30, so if we meet right when it opens hopefully we can avoid most of the crowds. Note that there is a charge of $5 per person. RSVP to Geri Halper at geri@dsnmc.org if you are planning to attend.

DSNMC WINTER SOCIAL AND DANCE - FEBRUARY 27, 2010 FROM 6:30 - 9:30 pm

Free event for family and friends of all ages. Back by popular demand: “The Band” from the Arc of MC. New Location: Brookside Gardens Reception Hall, Wheaton, Md. Invitations will be sent in January.
